A new exhibition, ‘THIN PLACE’, of paintings by Bob Speers is underway at The Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre, Armagh, Northern Ireland.

The term “thin place” describes locations where the veil between the physical and transcendental is thin, blending the tangible with the unseen. Peatlands are seen as such spaces, connecting the material and numinous. Bob Speers’ Thin Place project is an ongoing artistic exploration of boglands across Ireland, sourcing materials from each bog to embed its essence in his paintings. His work combines bog samples, commercial paints, and discarded fabrics, reflecting his focus on the human and natural marks, subtle colors, lines, and textures of moor and bog landscapes.
